The EU Parliament has re-elected Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission with 401 votes in favor, 284 against, 15 abstentions, and 7 void ballots. There were 707 voters, but the minimum majority required for election was 360. The Greens supported von der Leyen's re-election, a vote that proved decisive. Against, however, were MEPs from Fratelli d’Italia. "401 votes in favor is a sign of great confidence," the EU Commission president told a press conference. "The no in merit and method. We are consistent.", said Prime Minister Meloni, while for Tajani, "Without her re-election it would have been chaos". "Yet another scam, encore is bad news for Italy”, was the opinion of Salvini.
