Ready, set, go. The record-breaking Italia Team is beginning to move to France in anticipation of the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled from Friday, July 26. For days, some members of the mission have been busy setting up the Tricolor Building at the Olympic Village and Casa Italia while the Secretary General of Italians National Olympic Committed (CONI) and Head of Mission of the Olympic Delegation Carlo Mornati, along with much of the Olympic Preparation and staff of CONI's Institute of Sports Medicine and Science, left late yesterday morning on a scheduled flight from Fiumicino Airport. The date is not coincidental: the Olympic Village, in fact, just opened yesterday. This afternoon, again from Fiumicino, it will be the turn of CONI President Giovanni Malagò, anticipated in the morning by the first athletes. As for skeet shooting, technical director Andrea Benelli's skeet team, composed of Tammaro Cassandro, Gabriele Rossetti, Diana Bacosi and Martina Bartolomei, will go to Chateauroux for a final training session on the Olympic range. Skeet competitions (men's individual, women's individual and mixed team trials) are scheduled from Friday, August 2 to Monday, August 5. Also heading to Paris this afternoon on a scheduled flight from Turin are Giovanni De Gennaro, Raffaello Ivaldi, Stefanie Horn and Marta Bertoncelli, the four Azzurri entered in the canoe slalom and kayak cross competitions set in Vaires-sur-Marne from Saturday, July 27 to Monday, August 5, while from Fiumicino, Marta Maggetti (iQFOiL) will travel to Marseille, the venue for the sailing regattas from Sunday, July 28 to Thursday, August 8.
