A new precautionary measure has brought the president of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, under house arrest. This time, the accusation is for illegal financing of electoral commercials, which, according to the Prosecutor's Office, would have been paid for under the table by the supermarket chain Esselunga. Toti's former right-hand man Matteo Cozzani, former senator and Primocanale owner Maurizio Rossi, and former Esselunga councilor Francesco Moncada are all under investigation for the same crime. The new precautionary measure against Giovanni Toti does not extend his house arrest, which will expire at the beginning of November. The president, who is being represented by attorney Stefano Savi, will be required to undergo additional questioning before the preliminary investigations judge, Paola Faggioni, who has a 10-day deadline to begin the investigation.
