At 8:08 this morning, Naples was struck by a new earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6, located in the Campi Flegrei. The earthquake was felt strongly in several districts of the city, particularly on upper floors of buildings. There has been seismic activity in the Campi Flegrei area for several months, which has caused concern among the residents. According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the main shock was followed by additional aftershocks, resulting in an ongoing seismic swarm. The Civil Protection Department has confirmed that, despite the population's strong warning of an earthquake, initial checks show no significant damage. "Following the event, the Italian Situation Room of the Civil Protection Department contacted the local structures of the National Civil Protection Service. The population experienced the shock; however, no damage has been reported since the initial inspections", the Civil Protection Department concludes in its statement.
