On July 23, the Vincenzo Bellini airport in Catania was closed again due to Volcano Etna's eruption. The volcano's activity and the resulting ash emissions prompted the decision to temporarily suspend all scheduled flights, both departing and arriving. The new eruption is creating a terrifying and fascinating panorama. The volcanic explosion created a spectacular display of lava fountains, magma flows, and ash clouds that could be seen throughout Sicily. Meanwhile, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in Catania continues to monitor the volcano and has discovered oscillations in volcanic tremor. The tremors originate in the South East crater, at a depth of approximately 2800 meters above sea level. Seismic tremors follow one another, creating a chaotic atmosphere in the volcanic landscape.
