Rai has been sanctioned by the Communications Authority for hidden advertising at the most recent Sanremo Festival. The fine is for 206,580 euros. The discovered violation concerns the hidden advertising of a well-known shoe brand during John Travolta's performance with Amadeus, the Festival's conductor. The Authority, according to a message, deemed the episode extremely serious because "the exposure of the product took place during the main Rai television program in terms of audience and during the performance of a guest of clear international fame, with significant detrimental effects to the detriment of viewers". In determining the sanction, the Authority considered Rai's previous sanction for episodes of hidden advertising during the previous edition of the Sanremo Festival.
