Unicredit reports higher-than-expected earnings in the second quarter of 2024 and announces two acquisitions in fintech, cloud, and international expansion. The bank, led by CEO Andrea Orcel, reported a net profit of 2.7 billion euros, up 15.9% from the same period in 2023 and exceeding expectations, with profits of 5.2 billion in the first half of the year. In terms of dividends, the interim dividend on the 2024 cash dividend will be around 1.4 billion - the figure will be formally defined at the October Board of Directors meeting - with a total expected distribution of approximately 10 billion. This marks the fourteenth consecutive quarter of growth for the Piazza Gae Aulenti group, which can now afford to shop. Unicredit, in particular, paid 370 million for Aion, a Belgian digital bank, and Voeno, a leading banking service provider headquartered in Poland, paving the way for the bank's return to the region following the sale of Bank Pekao.
