At Giffoni, extraordinary events are not uncommon. Among these is the story of Mariolina Gamba, the pinnacle of female film journalists. Mariolina, 83, has never missed an appointment with the festival in the last 40 years, reporting from Milan on what François Truffaut called the "most necessary festival". During the previous edition, Claudio Gubitosi, the festival's founder, unexpectedly called her on stage to present her with the Parthenope award. Gubitosi wanted to share Mariolina's story and experience with the young people in attendance, emphasizing her commitment and passion for cinema. "Today I feel like I'm living in a fairy tale", said Gubitosi. "There are stories that we must remember to highlight the importance of Giffoni. I'd like to introduce you, the youngest, to Mariolina Gamba, who has always written about films and has followed us for over 40 years, reporting on our festival in her magazine, Il Ragazzo selvaggio". The audience's standing ovation and enthusiasm recognized Mariolina's long career and unwavering dedication.
