Ninety years as a star amid applause, the tribute of friends and colleagues, emotion, even a few tears. Sophia Loren, glittering white blouse and black Armani pants, celebrated her joyful birthday in Rome, where her film fairytale had begun, together with her family, friends, colleagues, and historic agent Carlo Giusti beside her. The evening was precluded to the press, with an initial celebration at The Space Cinema Moderno where the diva received the "Key to Cinecittà", a bronze work by sculptor Dante Mortet made for her. Then there was a gala dinner at the nearby Hotel Anantara Palazzo Naiadi. From Sting came a recorded dedication: the musician sang for the diva "Every little thing she does is magic" while Laura Pausini performed "Io sì (Seen)", the soundtrack to the film "The Life Ahead", the last one starring Loren in 2020 and directed by her son Edoardo Ponti. With her voice cracked with emotion, Sophia read a short speech to the audience: "One of the great advantages of age", she said, "is that we stop wasting time on useless things and focus on what matters. And what matters is my family, my children, grandchildren, friends, co-workers and the love that binds us together.... We have cried, laughed, danced together and tonight we can toast together".
