From October 9 to 12, 2024, evacuation drills for volcanic risk at Campi Flegrei will be held, involving more than 500 thousand citizens in the red zone, distributed in 7 municipalities: Naples, Pozzuoli, Bacoli, Monte di Procida, Quarto, Giugliano in Campania and Marano di Napoli. The exercise, dubbed EXE Flegrei 2024, is the second major mass simulation after the one in 2019 and involves collaboration between Civil Defense, Firefighters, Law enforcement and other emergency agencies. The exercise is part of a communication plan to raise awareness of volcanic and bradyseismic hazards in the Phlegraean Fields area.
