From the podium of the League rally in Pontida, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban offered support for Matteo Salvini in the Open Arms case. "We applaud Salvini as a hero because he stopped borders and saved Italians' homes while simultaneously safeguarding Europe. He ought to be honored rather than put on trial. The current one against him is a shame, the consequence of the left and all of Europe", remarked the Fidesz leader, to applause from the audience. Salvini then gave a 20-minute speech in which he discussed the economic maneuver, autonomy, and the Open Arms case.
