Arturo Ferruzzi, one of the four sons of Serafino Ferruzzi, the founder of the homonymous agri-food group in Ravenna in 1948, passed away at the age of 84. The Ferruzzi group made headlines in the 1980s when, led by Raul Gardini (husband of Idina Ferruzzi and thus Arturo's brother-in-law), it became Montedison's primary shareholder. Arturo's biography is inextricably tied to that of Raul Gardini, to whom the family delegated operation of the agro-industrial empire in 1979 following Serafino Ferruzzi's death. And, at official meetings at the time, Arturo always supported Raul Gardini, as did Carlo Sama, Alessandra Ferruzzi's husband. Arturo Ferruzzi died of an illness on Friday evening in Noto, Sicily. In 2001, he married Maria Cristina Busi, the first female president of Confindustria Catania and owner of various Coca-Cola bottling plants. In the 1990s, she also served as vice president of the Espresso Group. In recent years, Arturo had shifted his activities to Sicily.
