For house values, Milan beats Rome. Ten years ago the difference in Milan's favor was almost insignificant, standing at 0.9%, while at the end of June this year the gap rose to 17%. The gap between the average income of residents in the two cities has also widened. According to the latest data, household disposable income in Milan stands at 32,855 euros a year, while in Rome it stops at 24,851 euros. Moreover, the different scale of investment in infrastructure also weighs heavily on price trends. In Rome overall, the metro has three lines serving 83 stations and has a development of 67.5 kilometers. In Milan there are five lines, 134 stations that also touch the municipalities in the belt and the total length is 111.8 km. This is not an example picked at random, because there is nothing like the proximity of a subway that can increase the value of a house, especially in areas outside the historic city center. In the Lombard capital last year 30 houses for every 1,000 existing changed hands, while in Rome they were only 22. Also last year, the average value of residential transactions in the capital amounted to 255 thousand euros, compared to 382 thousand euros in Milan.
