Artificial Intelligence, the latest frontier of technological progress, which is increasingly central to today's society, is in the range of strategic tools aimed at improving the efficiency of the tourism industry. “We must see Artificial Intelligence not as a threat but as an opportunity, always putting man at the center, and therefore AI must be a tool that helps man,” said Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè during the press point preceding the start of the side event on G7 Tourism. "Therefore, we need to regulate this technology, which is already, I believe, helping tourism a great deal: this is already a highly technological sector, think also of the ways of booking, which are increasingly online and supported by technology," the Minister continued, "Then we know that every euro invested in AI, in the tourism sector of the G7 countries, generates a potential return of 3 euros. Already 130 billion euros have been invested globally, in Italy we are at an estimated impact of more than $6 billion from which would result in about $2 billion in annual effects of increased productivity and can grow the impact of tourism spending up to 10% by 2030, as well as a reduction in operating costs in tourism businesses of up to 20%," the Minister continued, setting out data from a study by the Tor Vergata Foundation for the Ministry, “So we can see firsthand the impact of technological progress in the sector, but it is also true, precisely, that we need to regulate it”.
