The Lazio Regional Administrative Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Roberto Vannacci, now an MEP, against the disciplinary sanction imposed on him by the Ministry of Defense following the publication of his book "The World Back-to-Front". As a result, the General will be suspended for 11 months from the Army, with a reduction in seniority and salary halved for the entire period of the sanction. Regarding the contents of the book, Minister Crosetto had said, "Personal opinions expressed discredit the Army". In its appeal against the measure, Vannacci's defense raised seven points, arguing, among other things, that the fundamental right to free expression of thought had been violated; that there had been no regulatory infringement; and that his defense deductions had been ignored; that the reasons behind the sanction would be insufficient to justify it; that the Minister of Defense should have refrained from judgment since he had already publicly censured the facts on platform X as soon as they occurred; and that the assessments on the alleged harm to the image of the Armed Forces would be unfounded.
