The center-left emerged victorious in the regional elections, securing Emilia-Romagna with Michele de Pascale, who easily defeated Elena Ugolini, and managing to reclaim Umbria from outgoing president Donatella Tesei, thanks to Stefania Proietti. If the outcome in Emilia-Romagna was well foreseen, the challenge in Umbria promised to be far more balanced. In the center-left coalition, the Democratic Party stands out with numbers described as "extraordinary" by Secretary Elly Schlein: nearly 42% in Emilia-Romagna and more than 31% in Umbria. On the contrary, the 5 Star Movement has once again produced unsatisfactory territorial results. However, abstentionism is the true protagonist of this election cycle. In Emilia-Romagna, just 46.42% of eligible voters voted, a 21-point reduction from 67.27% in the last regional elections. Umbria fared slightly better, with turnout reaching 52.3%, albeit significantly lower than the previous consultation's 64.69%.
