In Italy, household savings could increase by 3,800 euros per year if they switched from personal mobility, which is linked to private vehicles, to shared mobility, a single synergistic system based on a variety of offers such as trains, subways, trams, buses, car rental, taxis, and other new forms of sharing mobility. A win-win situation for the environment and your wallet. The transportation system accounts for more than 25% of greenhouse gas emissions in Italy; however, a 30% increase in the availability of shared mobility would reduce greenhouse gases by 18 million tons (more than half of the Italian transport sector reduction target for 2030), freeing cities of approximately 4.5 million cars and making them more livable and greener. This transformative approach is detailed in the "First Future Ways Report," developed by the Sustainable Development Foundation and presented today at Intermobility Future Ways, the inaugural National Forum on Shared Mobility in Rimini.
