Elanain Sharif, 44, an Italian citizen born in Egypt and living in Terni, was arrested at Cairo airport and sent to a prison in the city. "He stayed there for a few days in inhumane conditions", said lawyer Alessandro Russo, representing the man's mother. On November 9, Sharif was moved to a prison in Alexandria, and since then, he has not been heard from. His mother has received no news, while the lawyer noted that the reason for the arrest remains unclear: "It appears that it is something related to content published on Facebook, but we have not been notified of any charges". The Italian embassy in Cairo, working with the Foreign Ministry, is closely monitoring the situation. A request was promptly submitted to conduct a consular visit at the earliest opportunity.
