Venice Public Prosecutor Andrea Petroni called for a life sentence for Filippo Turetta at the end of his indictment in the trial for the murder of Giulia Cecchettin on November 10-11, 2023. During a two-and-a-half-hour speech before the Assize Court, the magistrate reconstructed the chronology of events and refuted possible defense elements by submitting a written brief. The PM pointed out that Turetta, who will turn 23 in December, repeatedly omitted the truth, despite opportunities and education to avoid it and refrain from committing the crime. He also pointed out that given the defendant's young age, it will still be possible to consider a reduction in sentence in the future.
