Yesterday, the Assize Court sentenced Alessandro Impagnatiello, the former barman who brutally murdered his partner Giulia Tramontano with 37 stab wounds on May 27, 2023, in Senago, Milan. Giulia, 29, was seven months pregnant. The sentence, handed down at the end of the first-degree trial, grants prosecutors' request for an exemplary sentence. Impagnatiello, 31, was found guilty of aggravated voluntary manslaughter, termination of pregnancy without consent and concealment of a corpse. At the reading of the verdict, the defendant was present in the courtroom, accompanied by his lawyers and a few steps away from the victim's family members. In addition to the sentence of life in prison, the judges set three months of daytime solitary confinement and a perpetual ban from public office. Impagnatiello was also stripped of parental authority over his son from a previous relationship. The former barman has been held in San Vittore prison since June 2023.
