Transport Minister Matteo Salvini has ordered the mobilization of unions ahead of the local public transport strike scheduled for Friday, November 29. The decision, announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) after a meeting with labor organizations, met with opposition from CGIL and UIL, which announced their intention to appeal the measure. The Strike Guarantee Commission had intervened earlier asking for a reduction in the protest, but the confederations, represented by leaders Maurizio Landini and Pierpaolo Bombardieri, reiterated that the strike will last eight hours, respecting the guarantee bands. The Minister had asked to limit the strike duration to 4 hours to reduce disruption, but the unions confirmed the mobilization as a protest against the economic maneuver.
