"How much does the work amount to? So far we have considered a figure of 12 billion euros, but that did not include the updates required by law," said Pietro Ciucci, CEO of Stretto di Messina Spa, during the Unioncamere conference on the Strait Bridge. "We believe that 13.5 billion euros represents the updated value, and we are in the process of defining the agreements with the various contractors, evaluating the requests of the various entities and the Conferences of Services," he adds, specifying that this phase will "be concluded shortly". "Therefore, we believe that the updated value to be considered is 13.5 billion euros," he concludes. Regarding the timeframe for implementation, the CEO stresses, "The timing depends on the approval of the CIPESS, and the law stipulates that this will take place by December 31, 2024, so 2025 will be the year when activities will begin on the ground". Ciucci continues: "At this stage we will proceed with the works on the territory and the executive design". The work is expected to be completed in eight years, with the opening of the Bridge to traffic set for 2032.
