Dramatic moments unfolded yesterday at Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence during the Fiorentina-Inter match, when 22-year-old player Edoardo Bove suddenly collapsed to the ground in the 17th minute of the first half.
The reaction of his teammates was immediate and filled with anguish: their frozen expressions, tears, and cries of alarm highlighted the gravity of the situation. A group of players quickly formed a circle around Bove to protect his privacy and prevent cameras from capturing the distressing scene. Initially, the worst was feared, with unconfirmed reports suggesting a possible cardiac arrest.
The Fiorentina medical staff acted swiftly, performing chest compressions on the field. Crucial assistance also came from teammate Cataldi, who placed Bove on his side to prevent his tongue from blocking his airway. After a few tense minutes, Bove was carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance, which transported him to Careggi Hospital.
This morning, the news everyone anxiously awaited arrived: Bove is conscious and breathing independently, as confirmed by hospital doctors after he had been intubated. Understandably, the match was suspended and will be rescheduled at a later date.
