Rome climbs the ranks of global conference tourism, one of the most sought-after sectors by major international cities, thanks in part to the high average spending by congress participants. In the latest annual report by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), which examined over 10,000 events worldwide, Rome secured the seventh spot globally with 119 conferences, a 40-event increase from the previous year. Leading the rankings are Paris (156 events), Singapore (152), and Lisbon (151). The Eternal City surpasses all other Italian cities: Milan (29th place), Bologna (47th), Florence (60th), Naples (66th), Turin (78th), and Venice (84th). Rome's success also boosts Italy to second place among nations (and first in Europe) with 553 conferences, trailing only the United States and ahead of Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
