The Italian PDO economy, despite various critical issues in the agricultural production system and markets, is showing good health. Figures from the 22nd Ismea-Qualivita Report describe a €20.2 billion sector in production value in 2023 (+0.2% year-on-year), for a growth of +52% in ten years and a 19% contribution to the overall turnover of the Italian agrifood industry. The food sector grows by +3.5%, surpassing €9 billion for the first time, while bottled wine slows down both in quantity (-0.7%) and value (-2.3%) and stands at €11 billion. Exports are doing well, with PDO-PGI products the lever of Made in Italy in the world, confirming a value of €11.6 billion with a positive trend in EU countries.
