According to the 2023 Plus Report by Inapp, maternity represents a career obstacle for four out of every ten women. 39.6% of women without children (compared to 27.4% of men) perceive maternity as a hazard to their ability to enter or remain in the labor market. Young women are increasingly concerned: out of the 18-24 age group, 49.9% of women perceive becoming a mother as a professional disadvantage. Even mothers with at least one child have no better prospects: 30.5% believe that a new pregnancy may hinder work opportunities, nearly tripling the percentage of fathers (12.1%).
