For 9 in 10 Italians, the Welfare of the future will have to include greater integration between social, health, educational and labor services and will have to invest in prevention and health promotion, stimulating healthy lifestyles to reduce long-term health care costs. For 8 out of 10 it will have to support people and their resilience to disasters and crises. These are some of the main evidences emerging from the FragilItalia Report "The Welfare of the Future", carried out by Area Studi Legacoop in collaboration with Ipsos, based on the results of a survey carried out on a representative sample of Italian society to test their opinions on the issue. Alongside these stark indications, the country appears instead to be split down the middle about the need to reform the social security and health care systems in the face of an aging population. For 53%, radical reforms will be needed, but only 10% favor cuts and reductions to make the system sustainable, while 43% believe it is necessary to cut only the privileged while guaranteeing welfare minimums for all. On the other hand, 47% oppose reforms, with 43% considering that more government investment and cost rationalization is needed, while 4% would like to continue as now.
