For two days Rome will become the global capital of the fight against asbestos pollution. In fact, the National Asbestos Desk has organized the Asbestos International Forum, which runs through December 12. This is the largest international event dedicated to asbestos risk management for public health protection, which in the last edition brought together more than 500 experts and political representatives from around the world and garnered more than 100,000 unique views of live streaming. Also among this year's guests will be Ukraine's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Italy, who will present an in-depth political analysis of the current wartime conditions faced by a people at war who are not only suffering tragic dynamics related to survival, but are victims of serious public health risks resulting from the destruction of infrastructure built with asbestos-containing materials, an element widely used in Ukraine until 2022. This emergency scenario represents not only for the Asbestos Desk but also for the European and international scientific community, a sociopolitical academic case for analyzing critical issues related to asbestos risk management in contexts of daily survival and post-conflict reconstruction.
