The Veronafiere Group, the leading direct organizer of events in Italy, second in terms of turnover and at the top in Europe, strengthens its commitment to environmental sustainability with a new 5,000-square-meter photovoltaic plant. Just inaugurated, it has the capacity to produce 1,184.3 MWh of clean energy in one year, equal to the consumption of 300 apartments, avoiding the emission of 770 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The 2,183 solar panels that make up the structure were installed on the roof of Hall 8 of the Verona Fairgrounds, with a total investment of 886,000 euros and six months of work. 51% of the electricity generated is for self-consumption, covering the needs of four exhibition halls and the outdoor "E" area; the remaining 49% is fed into the grid. But a system with widespread and optimized withdrawal points is already being studied to increase the share of energy available to the Fair's activities to 86%.
