Italy will have 7.5 gigawatts of new installed renewable energy capacity by the end of 2024. An extremely significant figure, as it surpasses the previous year's record of 5.7 gigawatts, which was the highest threshold ever achieved in the country. Despite the challenges associated with the authorization of solar plants introduced by new environmental legislation, the country appears to be on the right track. In the future, there will be more large-scale photovoltaic systems and fewer rooftop panels, lowering the average cost of renewable energy production because grid-scale plants are less expensive than small-scale plants.
