"Report the Landslide" aims to make communications between municipalities and regions easier and faster, so that the full picture of landslide events in a given territory is immediately available. The new feature of the National IdroGEO Platform, presented by ISPRA in Genoa at a meeting organized with ANCI and the Liguria Region, allows local administrations and professionals to report to regional technical structures, even with a simple smartphone, new landslides that have occurred in the territory. The event offered an opportunity to discuss hydrogeological risk prevention with municipalities and to test the use of the feature with technicians and professionals in the Ligurian territory. "Report the Landslide" contributes to updating the National Inventory of Landslide Phenomena in Italy - IFFI, maintained by ISPRA and the Autonomous Regions and Provinces, simplifying and increasing the efficiency and timeliness of data collection, including during inspections. To date, more than 635,000 landslides have been surveyed, 2/3 of Europe's landslides. 28% are extremely rapid phenomena characterized by high destructiveness, often with serious consequences in terms of loss of life. Every year there are about a hundred major landslide events that cause fatalities, injuries, evacuations, and damage to buildings, cultural property, and primary communication infrastructure. In this context, knowledge and updated information on landslides are essential for effective risk prevention and management policies.
