Ottavia Piana, a 32-year-old speleologist, was injured after falling within the Bueno Fonteno cave in the province of Bergamo. She is currently trapped 585 meters underground. A rescue team, including two doctors, reached her location and assessed her condition. Although not critical, her injuries—trauma to her legs, chest, and face—require attention. The alarm was raised by her expedition companions, who managed to climb back to the surface. Rescuers, coordinated by the Bergamo Prefecture, are working tirelessly on recovery efforts. To facilitate this, explosive materials were utilized, which were immediately approved by the Municipality of Fonteno and the Bergamo Police Headquarters. Unblocking operations performed by Alpine Rescue technicians are critical in making routes easier and allowing the speleologist to be rescued. Recovery efforts are ongoing without interruption.
