The miracle of San Gennaro was repeated: at 5:40 p.m. yesterday, to the applause of the faithful gathered in Naples Cathedral, the blood of the patron saint melted. An event that dispelled the initial concern of those present, after yesterday morning's failed liquefaction at 10:03 a.m., during the third and final "secular miracle" of the year. The failure to liquefy had raised fears, linked to historical precedents in which the absence of the miracle seemed to anticipate dramatic events, as in the case of World War II, in 1939 and 1940, to the 1973 cholera wave, to the 1980 Irpinia earthquake and the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, the "secular miracle" takes on special significance as it symbolically anticipates the beginning of the Jubilee of 2025. The return of the prodigy in the afternoon was welcomed as a sign of hope and comfort for the Neapolitan community.
