The growth in employment and contract renewals has boosted the thirteenth-month bonuses. This year, over 32 million Italian employees and retirees will receive the much-anticipated additional monthly payment, totaling around 51 billion euros, a 7.8% increase compared to last year. An inflow of liquidity that will be somewhat offset by fixed expenses, outstanding accounts, and savings, but will still have a considerable impact on end-of-year consumption. 78% of individuals who receive it want to use some of it for holiday expenses, ranging from Christmas presents to vacations, for a total of more than 18.7 billion euros. The estimate comes from Confesercenti, based on a survey on the use of the thirteenth-month bonus conducted with a sample of employees and retirees residing in Italy.
