ITA Airways has joined the United Nations Global Compact, an effort that encourages businesses around the world to implement sustainable and socially responsible policies. The UN Global Compact was established with the objective of fostering a sustainable global economy. It mandates that those who voluntarily endorse it align their activities and strategies with the Ten Universally Accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, in order to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "By joining the UN Global Compact, ITA Airways reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the planet's sustainable development by integrating sustainability into its strategic business decisions", said Andrea Benassi, General Director of ITA Airways. "Collaborating through synergies between operators from different sectors to achieve common goals is essential to bring significant changes for the future of the new generations".
