Bergamo ranks as Italy’s best province for quality of life in 2024. This is the conclusion drawn from Il Sole 24 Ore's annual analysis, which assesses territorial well-being using a variety of economic, social, and environmental variables. Following a period of revival that began with the epidemic, the Lombard city prevails in this new edition, followed by Trento and Bolzano, both symbols of Northern Italy's economic and social stability. The podium is a tangible indication of the North East's resilience. The overall picture shows that Italy is increasingly divided into two parts: while the northern provinces rise in the rankings due to strong performance in areas such as the economy, health, and services, the south continues to suffer, with the last 25 positions all occupied by southern provinces and Reggio Calabria finishing in 107th place. A figure that emphasizes chronic geographical inequities, exacerbated by structural issues that have never been remedied.
