For the 2024 holiday season, 18.3 million Italians will be traveling, according to a survey by Federalberghi. Of these, 7.6 million will leave for Christmas, 4.4 million for New Year's Eve and 1 million for Epiphany. The "long vacation", which includes at least 11 days of celebration, will involve 5.3 million people. Italians’ favorite destination remains the mountains. The total turnover stands at 14.7 billion, but the economic crisis is affecting travel habits: 35% of those who will not leave renounce due to lack of economic resources, while among vacationers, 41% have reduced their spending, 19% have shortened their trip, and 10% have limited the overall length of their vacation.
