Internationally renowned economist Orazio Attanasio, a full professor at Yale University, has chosen the University of Calabria (Unical) as the site to develop the "Measurement Tools Design" research project. Funded with 2.2 million euros from the Italian Science Fund (FIS), the project represents a significant milestone for Attanasio and for Unical, which is confirmed as a pole of excellence in the Italian academic scene. The project, one of eight “Advanced Grants” awarded in Italy in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SH) macro field and the only one in Calabria, aims to create a “Measurement Laboratory”. This laboratory will develop innovative tools to measure complex concepts such as subjective beliefs, social norms and individual attitudes, fostering an interdisciplinary approach and international collaborations. Attanasio, a native of Calabria, will be a full professor of Political Economy in the Department of Economics, Statistics and Finance "Giovanni Anania" (DESF) at Unical, with a direct appointment. Maria De Paola, Vincenzo Scoppa and other DESF researchers will also participate in the project, while the lab will serve as a central node for a global collaborative network.
