The soccer world mourns the passing at 89 of Fabio Cudicini, a goalkeeper who made Serie A history in the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Trieste, he began his career in Italy's top league in 1956 at Udinese, later moving on to Roma, where he would defend the goalposts of the Giallorossi for eight seasons, winning a Fairs Cup (1960/61) and an Italian Cup (1963/64). After a spell at Brescia, he moved to AC Milan in 1967 and in the Rossoneri won everything possible to win: Scudetto (1967/68), Cup Winners' Cup (1967/68), Champions' Cup (1968/69), Intercontinental Cup (1969) and Coppa Italia (1971/72). His great feats between the posts, combined with his unfailing dark uniform, earned him the nickname “Black Spider”.
