Second podium in two days for Federica Brignone. After her triumph in the downhill, the Italian finished third in the Alpine Ski World Cup super-G hosted by Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Austria. Protagonist of a good run even in light of the poor visibility on the slope, the Aosta Valley “Tiger” finished with a time of 1:18.43. Better than her only the American Lauren Macuga, winner of the race with a time of 1:17.51, and the Austrian host Stephanie Venier, second in 1:18.19. Worth mentioning is the amazing fourth position of the legendary Lindsey Vonn (1:18.75): it is the best result of the 40-year-old American since her return to competition. For Brignone, this is the 73rd podium in her World Cup career, allowing her to return to the top of the overall circuit standings. "I'm happy with the result, even if I wasn't perfect and I knew I was beatable," were Federica's words, "It was a bit of a conditional race. Macuga had a near-perfect race while all the others made mistakes; it was a bit more difficult for us, because for the first ones to start you could really see very little. Under the skis there was no good feeling, it was hard to handle the vibrations. In the middle of the course I went a little long but I told myself that I should make a difference in the final part and I went strong. Too bad the visibility didn't improve until later. It was still a super weekend”.
