The Modena Assize Court sentenced Salvatore Montefusco, who was responsible for murdering his wife and her daughter on June 13, 2022, to 30 years in prison. Prosecutors had asked for life imprisonment, but the judges deemed the general mitigating circumstances equivalent to the aggravating ones, justifying the decision with the “human comprehensibility of the motives” that allegedly drove the defendant to the act. According to the ruling, Montefusco, who is incensed and in his 70s, would not have committed such serious crimes if he had not been influenced by the “nefarious family dynamics” that developed over time.
