On January 17, National Day of Dialects and Local Languages, Mickey Mouse begins an amazing project to increase the richness of Italian languages. Issue 3608, available starting today, will be published not only in Italian but also in four dialects: Catanese, Florentine, Milanese, and Neapolitan. The special story, Uncle Scrooge and the PdP 6000, written by Niccolò Testi and illustrated by Alessandro Perina, will feature Uncle Scrooge in an adventure adapted into local linguistic variants. To distinguish the project, Andrea Freccero signed a dedicated cover with the tricolor flag, which honors national unity. The Italian edition will be accessible throughout the country, while the dialect versions will be exclusively distributed in the reference regions of Sicily, Tuscany, Lombardy, and Campania. Collectors will be able to acquire all variants in comic shops, on Panini.it, and through Primaedicola.it while supplies last. The dialect translations were handled by a team of linguists led by Professor Riccardo Regis, an Italian Linguistics professor at the University of Turin. "It is an innovative and engaging project, which has allowed me to combine personal passion and scientific dissemination, reaching out to even the youngest readers", commented Regis, a Disney onomastics expert.
