"On the occasion of your inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America, I extend my cordial greetings and the assurance of my prayers that Almighty God may grant you wisdom, strength, and protection in carrying out your high duties". This is how Pope Francis begins his message to Donald Trump on the day of his inauguration at the White House. "Inspired by the ideals of the Nation, a land of opportunity and hospitality for all", the Pope continues, "I hope that under your leadership, the American people may prosper and commit themselves to building a more just society where there is no room for hatred, discrimination, or exclusion". This is the wish Pope Francis expressed to the tycoon, concluding the message with these words: "At the same time, as our human family faces numerous challenges, not to mention the scourge of war, I pray that God may guide your efforts to promote peace and reconciliation among peoples. With these sentiments, I pray for an abundance of divine blessings to be bestowed upon you, your family, and the cherished American people".
