In 2022, the gender disparity in average hourly earnings in Italy was 5.6%. While men earned an average of 16.8 euros per hour, women earned an average of 15.9 euros. The disparity widens among graduates (16.6%), with women earning an average hourly income of 20.3 euros and males earning 24.3 euros. Istat disclosed this information in its report. The wage gap widens among professions with a lower female representation: in the group of Executives, it reaches a value of 30.8%, corresponding to the highest hourly wages for both women (34.5 euros) and men (49.8 euros); followed by the Armed Forces group (27.7%), with hourly wage values of €16.9 and €23.4, respectively, and that of Artisans and specialized workers (17.6%).
