A bill to repeal the legislative decree, dating back to 1947, sanctioning our country's membership in the World Health Organization, but also an amendment to the Milleproroghe to that effect: this is the new battle launched by the Lega party and presented at a press conference in the Chamber. "We want to follow America in its plan to leave the WHO," explains Claudio Borghi, senator and head of the Lega’s group in the Budget Committee. "We have already filed an amendment to the Milleproroghe, we do not know if it will be considered admissible, but to be on the safe side we are also filing a bill today, to repeal the law that currently obliges us to be part of the WHO, which is a power center disconnected from any national interest, now become a mouthpiece of the multinational drug companies. If the U.S. itself has realized that the WHO serves absolutely nothing but someone's interests, I don't understand why we have to go after it. And the ‘excuse’ of helping Africa doesn't hold up: if the same contribution we give to the WHO were taken directly to Africa, perhaps through our contingents engaged in Niger, surely the contribution to Africa's needs would be multiplied by 10, because at least the salaries of those who on average receive 140,000 euros net per year would not be foraged”.
