Only 43% of Italian employees consider their workplace an excellent environment, placing Italy last in Europe, behind countries like Cyprus, Poland, and Greece. According to the European Workforce Study 2025 report, which Great Place to Work has developed by gathering feedback from nearly 25,000 employees in 19 European countries, the average job satisfaction index in Europe is 59%, which is 16 points higher than Italy. The Nordics dominate the ranking of countries with the highest percentage of satisfied workers, with the Danes at 75%, the Norwegians at 73%, and the Swedes at 68%. Thus, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland serve as European norms for corporate culture, which has a direct and favorable impact on labor productivity. According to the report, the major reason of discontent in Italy is a lack of appreciation and acknowledgment by managers: just 48% of managers are prepared to seek out and seriously evaluate recommendations and ideas generated by employees.
