It is necessary to "work with determination" so that hope, which is given to us by the faith and love of Jesus Christ and thus founded on love, "is translated into peace for the world", and it is necessary to abandon "the logic of violence" in favor of dialogue and diplomacy "to build with courage and creativity spaces for negotiation aimed at achieving lasting peace". The Pope writes this in a message to the attendees of the VI International Conference "For the Balance of the World", which is now taking place in Havana, Cuba and will close on January 31. In the message, the Pope warns that no initiative will accomplish anything "if it does not succeed in ensuring that every person - prevented from opening up to life with enthusiasm, because of the frenetic pace of existence, fears for the future, lack of job security and adequate social protection, social models whose agenda is dictated by the search for profit rather than by the care of relationships - can look to the future with hope" . According to Pope Francis, "all initiatives that seek to open paths for so many brothers and sisters who live in conditions of hardship, whatever the cause, are to be praised".
