Israeli singer Noa on the stage of the Ariston Theater on February 11, the first night of the Sanremo Festival, and Palestinian singer Mira Awad, will duet to the notes of John Lennon's Imagine. Two cultures united by music to convey a powerful message of peace and solidarity. Noa returns to the Sanremo Festival exactly 30 years after her first participation in 1995 as an international guest. She also participated in 2006, winning the Critics' Award. In 2007 she was honored as Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana (“Knight of Italian Republic”) and later as Commendatore della Repubblica Italiana (“Commander of Italian Republic”). Her performance at the Festival anticipates the release of her new album, The Giver, the first in which Noa also signs the music together with Gil Dor and pianist Ruslan Sirota. "This musical project," Noa explains, "was born out of the crisis that followed the October 7 massacre, which unleashed a war on multiple fronts, physical, emotional and ideological, in Israel, Palestine and the whole world. The grief and mourning we are experiencing created a space for deep reflection, which prompted me to share my feelings, ideas and vision through music". Mira Awad is a Palestinian-Israeli multidisciplinary artist and activist currently based in London.
