Pope Francis spent yesterday his third day of hospitalization at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. According to sources close to the Pontiff, his clinical condition remains stable. Bergoglio has been hospitalized since Friday for investigations related to a respiratory tract infection and continues to follow the therapeutic course prescribed by doctors. Yesterday morning he received the Eucharist and followed Holy Mass on television, while in the afternoon he alternated moments of reading and rest. In the Angelus text released earlier in the day, the Holy Father expressed his desire to be close to the faithful: "I would have liked to be among you but, as you know, I am here at the Gemelli Polyclinic because I still need some treatment for my bronchitis. I thank you for the affection, prayer and closeness with which you are accompanying me these days. A special thought also goes to the doctors and health care workers of this hospital for their thoughtfulness: they do such a precious and tiring job, let's support them with prayer!”
