Jannik Sinner, famous Italian tennis player, has consented to a three-month suspension from competition after testing positive for a prohibited substance, according to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Sinner, who is 23 years old and is first in the men's ranking of the world's greatest tennis players, tested positive in two doping controls in March 2024 for clostebol, an anabolic steroid that improves athletic performance and is prohibited by WADA. WADA has confirmed that the tennis player tested positive for clostebol unintentionally, as a result of contamination by one of his physiotherapists. However, WADA defended the disqualification by asserting that "an athlete is responsible for the negligence of his staff" in accordance with the regulations of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport. Sinner's suspension will last from February 9 to May 4, and during this period, he will not be allowed to participate in any competitions (he will also be prohibited from training in sports facilities until April 13). He will miss the Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, and Madrid, but he will be able to return in time for the Italian Open and the French Open.
